Nonlinear pulse propagation in dispersion decreasing fibers

چکیده
By numerically solving the nonlinear Schrodinger equation, we analyze pulse propagation through dispersion decreasing optical fibers (DDFs) in which the core radius varies along the length of the fiber; this in turn leads to a variation of dispersion as well as mode effective area along the length of the fiber. We calculate an optimum core radius profile required to create a local balance between group velocity dispersion and self-phase modulation, so that the DDF can support the propagation of fundamental "soliton" pulses. The variation in the optimum profile corresponding to variations in the fiber parameters has also been analyzed.

Propagation of Parabolic Pulse through a Dispersion Decreasing Fiber with High Nonlinearity
Generation and propagation of Parabolic pulse through a designed and optimized silica based highly nonlinear dispersion decreasing fiber (HN-DDF) has been studied. It is seen that the proposed fiber can be treated as best choice for parabolic pulse generation with less input power requirement in comparison to standard normal dispersion fibers.

We study pulse propagation in Er-doped fiber amplifiers (EDFA) within the framework of a spectrally resolved pulse rate-propagation equations model. Our model accounts for the effects of gain dispersion, gain saturation, waveguide and chromatic dispersion, and amplified spontaneous emission. This model allows us to approximate the effects of nonlinear resonant dispersion on short pulse amplific...
متن کاملNonlinear pulse propagation in optical fibers.
We discuss the propagation of nonlinear optical pulses in fibers. The wave equation is solved taking the radial dependence in an average way. The radius versus wavelength curves for "no dispersion" in SiO(2) glass are calculated and plotted. These no-dispersion curves separate the regions of light and dark solitons supported by the fibers.
متن کاملTime-Frequency (Wigner) Analysis of Linear and Nonlinear Pulse Propagation in Optical Fibers
Time-frequency analysis, and, in particular, Wigner analysis, is applied to the study of picosecond pulse propagation through optical fibers in both the linear and nonlinear regimes. The effects of firstand second-order group velocity dispersion (GVD) and self-phase modulation (SPM) are first analyzed separately. The phenomena resulting from the interplay between GVD and SPM in fibers (e.g., so...
